Kimberly Laing
Co-Owner & Managing Partner VP of Organizational Strategy & Development
Kimberly loves a good plan. Better yet, she loves a good plan with a spreadsheet, a solid system, and a team that’s excited about where they’re headed. But what truly drives her is people—helping them recognize their strengths, believe in
Katie Willson
Co-Owner & Managing Partner VP of Creative Strategy & Brand Development
Katie is a lover of ideas, good design, and the kind of creative work that makes people stop and pay attention. She believes the best brands do more than look good—they tell a story, make a connection, and give people a reason to care.
their abilities, and gain the confidence to accomplish things they never thought possible. For Kimberly, there’s nothing more rewarding than watching others discover their potential and succeed.
With more than 25 years of experience in business and team leadership, Kimberly has built a career around turning ideas into action, bringing order to chaos, and making complicated things run a little more smoothly. Her professional background spans national and international business-to-business sales and distribution, marketing, brand development and management, and organizational leadership.
Kimberly also serves as an Administrative Director in the nonprofit sector, overseeing operations, communications, events, and organizational initiatives. Whether she’s leading teams, building efficient systems, or coordinating large-scale events, she thrives on solving problems and bringing all the moving pieces together.
With an educational background in psychology, Kimberly brings an additional perspective to her work. She believes even the best business strategies depend on strong relationships, clear communication, and people who feel valued and empowered to do their best.
At Plait Marketing, Kimberly combines her business experience and organizational expertise to help clients strengthen their brands, develop effective strategies, and turn ambitious goals into achievable results. She believes great businesses aren’t built on good ideas alone. They take thoughtful planning, strong leadership, and the flexibility to adapt when things inevitably change. And if there’s one thing Kimberly knows, it’s that something always changes.
Outside of work, Kimberly loves getting lost in a good book, spending time with family, and enjoying a Dr Pepper—preferably while someone else is in charge of the schedule for a change. Although, if we’re being realistic, she’s probably already made one.
By day, Katie co-owns Plait Marketing where she helps businesses bring their ideas to life through branding, web development, creative direction, and copywriting.
She loves the process of taking a big, sometimes messy idea and turning it into something thoughtful, cohesive, and unmistakably personal and individual. From defining a brand’s voice and visual identity to building a website that brings it all together, she believes every detail should have a purpose and every brand should have a point of view.
Katie holds a BA in History and an MA in Creative Writing and is currently pursuing a PhD in History. Her academic background has shaped the way she approaches creative work: with curiosity, a keen eye for detail, a healthy appreciation for research, and an understanding that the best ideas are often the result of asking better questions.
She brings that same mix of strategy and imagination to every project, helping businesses uncover what makes them different and communicate it with clarity and confidence.
Originally from Utah, Katie and her family have made a home in rural Kentucky, where life is often slowed by tractors on the road or the occasional rogue farm animal. It’s humid and green and lovely, and she adores every minute.
Her world is anchored by her hero of a husband and her beautiful daughters, who have recently stepped into adulthood, leaving her with more time, more tenuous emotions, and plenty of new perspectives on life.
Outside of work, Katie is happiest with a good book in hand, a Dr Pepper within reach, and a John Wayne film or British crime series playing in the background. She appreciates a clever idea, a well-crafted story, and anything that proves a little creativity can go a long way.
